If this book doesn't paint a realistic picture of what could happen in the next few years, nothing could. How many people have come here over the last 40 years that our government knows very little about. For that matter, how many people have come here that are competely unknown except for a chance encounter, such as the man that was arrested in 2013 with 400 prepaid cell phones in the trunk. Well written & the research is very solid as I've lived in or visited most of the areas written about. Dead on target and shows inside knowledge many wouldn't comprehend the extent of. Easily rivals the work of Clancy and other in this genre.
Looking forward to Mr. Kinman's next novel which I believe is to be released very soon.
One of the reviewers above made the comment about the character's having unlimited funds. He's obviously never read any Robert A Heinlein. Kinman's first novel. I knew that going in and I was pleasantly surprised. NSA spooks, FBI,CIA,terrorists, planes, boats, and a fair amount of shoot'em up. All spiraling around one ordinary American. I think I read the last 200 pages or so today. Once the story heated up, I didn't want to stop.
I like the premise. I liked the development. I liked the characters. . .yes, it is easy to recognize some but, so what? The author does an nice job of creating characters that are easy to like and easy to dislike as well as delineating the sheep, the sheep dogs, and the wolves. If this is his first effort, he is commended. What's not to like, good guys (& gals) defeat bad guys? There's action, airplanes (accurate knowledge), firearms (accurate knowledge), and unabashed defense of personal rights (from a writer who clearly understands and cares about such).
I bought the kindle version of this book, and it was delivered within 5 minutes! I'm a shooter myself, and it was really refreshing reading a book that gets the details right. There were no 'hollywood' shootouts, where the people involved shoot 100 shots between reloads from a revolver! The main character in the book is a very believable person, and the storyline is realistic, and frightening, as terrorism within the U.S.A. is a reality these days. The author knows how to tell a story, and keep the reader interested! I bought the book, and figured I would read it later in the week, but I started reading it, and couldn't put it down! I ended up reading the book all night, and finally put it down when I was finished with the story. I hope the author writes more stories, if they're as well written as this one, I want to read them!
This is the most engrossing book I've read in a long time. It kept me from my video game addiction until I finished it.
The theme is civilians resisting terrorism in the US. That is not unbelievable. Since the hard lesson of 9/11, Americans have proven that they will take matters into their own hands if threatened. (Shoe bomber)
I was entertained and my spirits were uplifted. What more could I ask from a book?

The writing is sometimes a little simplistic, on the other hand it is also straightforward and the reader doesn't get lost in endless adjective laden descriptions of meaningless (to the actual story) padding so rife with fiction writing today. In a way it is a wistful story of how I wish things could be, but it is very direct and hard hitting in bringing to light the basic values of the conservative, self responsible, and moral way of life that is under continual attack by the media and the Left so-called "elite". The story does the soul good and hopefully gives the reader some valid talking points and courage to deal directly with the present barrage of propaganda against the core values of the Constitution and Bill of Rights
I started Above Reproach last night and find it impossible to put it down. The premise of the story is believable. The main characters are the heroes we wish we could see today, in this time, in this climate. Above all Mr. Kinman doesn't make the silly stupid mistakes that so many "Action" authors do...he knows his weapons, he knows his subject and he gives you a heart-pounding no holds barred view of what we could face if terrorism isn't stopped in its tracks now. Above Reproach is, without a doubt, on my top 5 book list.
